The Monday Five 2.3.25 & where I ate this weekend in NYC
When house guests come, your weekend becomes a food tour.
Hey Indigoer,
I had such a fun weekend hosting a friend from Atlanta. It’s always nice to have people visit me here in NYC and share my life with them. We saw The Great Gatsby which was so fun, I now need to see them movie (never seen it!!). We also got in a few delicious meals - more on that below.
Remember how I was debating about a birthday bag? Well, I finally made a decision and ordered it only to realize it had been delivered to Atlanta. I was ordering it while walking home from the store because all good decisions need to be walked off apparently. I’m so eager to get back to Atlanta in a few weeks to finally have the bag in my hands! And I guess I’m officially stuck with it because by the time I get back, it’ll be past the return window…
Here’s Your Monday Five…
Where We Ate In NYC This Weekend
My house guest this weekend used to live in NYC back in her college and post college days. So she had a few specific requests to scratch her nostalgic NYC itch. We had pizza at Patsy’s Pizzeria, Thai food at Thai Terminal which may be my new go-to spot for take-out. We grabbed a cookie at From Lucie, pastries from SMØR which may be my personal favorite bakery in all of NYC. And of course, we tried the TikTok viral Mary O’s Irish Soda Bread and it was so insanely good. Breakfast at Little Ruby’s and a final dinner at Lil Frankie’s. This is my go-to spot when visitors come.
I am working on launching my guide to New York City, until then, you can check out my NYC travel guide on an indigo day here →
Totally Forgot I Read This Book
I’m currently filling out an interview for an article feature on my blog (so fun!) and one of the questions was what influenced this career. Was it a book, a person, an organization, and when I saw book I instantly thought about this sort of career self help book I read back in the day. It was called Be A Free Range Human and that book came rushing back to me. I don’t know if it’s held up after oh I don’t know, nearly 15 years since I probably read it, but if you’re struggling to find a job you love or looking for a career shift, this may be a good book to get your thoughts in order. New Favorite Candy Addiction
While you can usually find a little guava hard candy in all of my purses (the kind you get at a Chinese restaurant and sometimes the nail salon), I am now obsessed with these mango ones. I can’t remember where I first had them but I must’ve saved the packaging because I found a wrapper in my purse and instantly ordered a package. They are SO good. Shop them here →
Eyeing At DISSH
DISSH is a favorite Australian brand and I have a few things in my closet that I just ADORE. I’m currently eyeing this gorgeous brown dress for spring and this vest is oh so cool. And in their sale section, this pale yellow sweater is calling my name. Would be perfect paired with jeans, soft blues and browns. PS my DISSH sizing guide here →
Best Dressed At The Grammys
Or maybe not? I was not impressed with really any of the outfits. Taylor looked like a figure skater who gave up and took her bun out and her hair gel was still holding up the sides. Miley Cyrus’ hair was tragic (but I did like her dress), and I think Sabrina Carpenter was the one and only best dressed last night. Which outfit did you like best? See all the looks here →
Have a great week and stay tuned for tomorrow’s email, The Monthly Edit is heading to your inbox for February.
