Good To The Last Drop - My Latest Beauty Empties
A review of what I used, loved and what I'm NOT repurchasing. Plus 4 new beauty products I'm trying.
Hey indigoer!
I definitely have noticed that living in NYC means I am getting dressed and putting on makeup way more than I ever did living in Atlanta. So many more opportunities to go out and be doing things. I equally love that I’ve become more social, but also, I try to savor my time on my couch when I do get a night at home.
Because I’m getting ready more, this does mean I’m going through more beauty products than ever before. From my favorite primer, to also the cleansing balm to get off all the makeup. I tend to be a creature of habit with my beauty products and don’t try new things a TON. But I have a few new things in rotation now that I’m enjoying and also still deciding on. As of now, here are the beauty empties I recently finished, what I thought of them, and if I’d repurchase them or not.
Holy Grail Concealer
I have been using this for as long as I can remember. I honestly don’t even think it’s the right shade anymore for me. But I use it, I love it. I did however finally try a new concealer, the Haus Labs concealer. I am on the fence about it. I can’t decide if it’s too light, and if it’s offering enough coverage (or have my dark circles just gotten so much worse?!). But this NARS concealer really is the best and I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.
Life Changing Fenty Primer
For someone who has oily skin, a primer is a requirement. I can not put makeup on without it. When I finally discovered the Fenty mattifying primer, my life was honestly forever changed. My makeup lasts all day with this. Even through sweat too on those humid days.
Go-To Brow Gel
Another favorite is the Kosas AIRBROW brow gel. I use shade medium brown. I love that it doesn’t get clumpy or weird. It has some hold, nothing crazy. If you need more hold, add in this on top. I also love this clear brow gel so much. I love the Kosas brow gel so much though that I did a full review on it here with before and after photos and a tutorial.
Melt Away Your Makeup
Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm seems to be a favorite among a lot of people. I tried it whenever it was last on sale at Amazon. I feel like I went through it fairly fast for how expensive it is. While it works nicely, I don’t know if it’s worth the price point. I may be going back to my DHC oil cleanser. It’s so much cheaper and works just the same. However, for traveling, I do like a cleansing balm because it’s just one less risky leak in your toiletry bag or for TSA to give you a hard time with. I usually pack the Farmacy or Versed cleansing balm into my toiletry bag for travel for that purpose only.
Dermalogica Retinol Serum
A really good retinol that doesn’t make you super dry. A little goes a long way too with this product so you just need one small pump and you’re good. I feel like this lasts quite a while.
4 New Beauty Products I’m Trying
PMD Clean
I’ve been using this in the shower for a good cleanse of the skin. I’ll never forget using Clarisonic tools but they no longer exist. This is the replacement for that for sure. It helps to boost elasticity and also gets you a really good cleanse. PS use code INDIGO30 for 30% off.
Biossance Squalane + Copper Peptide Rapid Plumping Serum
My skin has been feeling quite dull, and I am starting to feel my age. I started using this serum daily and feel like my skin is feeling a lot less dull and more plump. I even found myself in the mirror the other morning saying “hey my skin looks good” which says a lot considering I am currently at my palest. Especially in the colder months, I was really needing a boost.
AMIKA Un.done Texture Spray
All for a good texture spray. I heard good things about this one from AMIKA. I hadn’t tried any of their other products before. I think it’s fine, I still think my Kristin Ess is still a favorite. But this one does a good job.
Necessaire Lip Balm
A favorite body care brand of mine has launched a new product, a lip balm. They make great products and I almost always start my day with their body serum and body lotion. And now, adding in their lip balm to my routine. It’s hydrating and feels great.

Two of my faves are the Avenue thermal spring water and Bioderma micellar water. I spray the Avenue product on my face then put my moisturizer on right away to lock in all that moisture! I just love how it feels on my skin, it’s so refreshing. I use the micellar water usually after my facial cleanser to double cleanse and get all of the dirt and makeup off. For makeup, one of my top faves is Supergoop Glowscreen, and Laura Mercier concealer is awesome too!
I am obsessed with the Biossance serum and the Farmacy balm! I’m going to need a primer soon because the Miami heat is no joke! Might pick up that fenty primer in the Sephora sale soon! Thanks!
